Keto Apps Compared: 12 Apps on the Same 10 Criteria

Published: 21 October 2026 · Information as of: 21 October 2026 · Easy Keto. This page was written with the help of AI and published by Easy Keto.

Deutsche Fassung: Keto-Apps im Vergleich

Disclosure: This page comes from Easy Keto, the provider of one of the compared apps (Easy Keto: Low Carb Recipes, provider Martin Stein). It is therefore also advertising for our app. We present the other apps by the same rules, with their strengths.

There was no test: no app was installed or tried for this page. All information comes from the US store pages and the providers’ websites, retrieved on 21 October 2026, and is the providers’ own information. There was no expert review by third parties. Easy Keto gets nutrition data partly through the fatsecret Platform API; the FatSecret app is also in this comparison. The page contains no affiliate links and no paid mentions.

Looking for a keto app and want to know which one suits you? This page puts 12 apps side by side that are available in the US App Store and on Google Play in the US, including our own app, Easy Keto. They are compared on 10 criteria with a measurement rule that is the same for every app. Every entry has a source with a retrieval date. There is no overall score and no first place.

Key points

The 10 criteria and how they are measured

The criteria and their measurement rules are listed here, before the tables. Each one applies to every app in the same way and relies on a public source; where a cell departs from the rule, a footnote says so. Where the source says nothing, the cell says “n/a” (no information). That does not mean “no”: the feature may still exist.

Criteria and measurement rules
No.CriterionMet if …Source
K1English interfacethe language list in the US App Store (“Information”, “Languages”) includes English; the cell also shows how many more languages it lists and whether Spanish is one of themAS
K2Free to usethe store text or the provider names a permanently free version, or no purchases are listed at all; a free trial alone does not countAS, GP, AW
K3Annual priceno yes/no rating: range of all items with an annual duration in their name in the “In-App Purchases” list of the US App Store, plus whether the list includes a one-time purchaseAS
K4Net carbsthe source names a net carbs display; “limited” if only under conditions (Premium, language, region); the provider’s definition is given if it names oneAS, GP, AW, AH
K5Macro trackingthe source names logging carbs, fat and protein (or “macros”)AS, GP, AW
K6Barcode scannerthe source names one; “Premium only” if the source says soAS, GP, AW
K7Recipes in the appthe source names ready-made recipes in the app; creating your own recipes does not count; a number is shown only as the provider’s statementAS, GP, AW
K8Apple Health and Health Connectper platform: the source names the connection; “Premium only” if the source says soAS, GP, AW, AH
K9No tracking per App Store labelin “App Privacy” of the US App Store, the section “Data Used to Track You” is missing or the label reads “Data Not Collected”AS
K10No ads per storeneither the App Store (“Contains: Advertising”) nor Google Play (“Contains ads”) shows adsAS, GP

Source codes: AS = App Store page (US), GP = Google Play page (US), AW = provider website, AH = provider help center. The links are listed per app under Sources, all retrieved on 21 October 2026. Time basis: all sources were retrieved from Germany on 21 October 2026 between 01:44 and 02:17 CEST, when it was still 20 October 2026 in US time zones. Availability on Google Play in the US is approximated by the US country setting of the store page (gl=US). The App Store dates in the table “Last updated” are UTC dates. Privacy labels and ad labels are the providers’ own statements. The App Store says: “This information has not been verified by Apple.” Google Play says: “The developer provided this information and may update it over time.”

Why these criteria

When we retrieved Google’s US search suggestions on 21 October 2026, “free” came first for “keto diet app”, “best keto app”, “keto tracker app” and “carb counter app”; “keto diet app” was also followed by “cancel subscription”, “cost” and “subscription”. That is why free use and price come first (K2 and K3). K1 shows the interface languages. K4 to K8 are features that the keto apps in this comparison name in their own store texts. K9 and K10 are about your data and ads; both are shown for every app in the store.

Which apps are in the comparison

An app was only included if it is available in the US App Store and on Google Play in the US, if its store text or provider mentions keto, low carb or net carbs, and if it showed up in at least one search: the US App Store or Google Play search for “keto”, “keto app” or “low carb”, a web search or Google’s search suggestions. Not included are apps that have not been updated for more than 2 years and apps whose core is measuring blood values. This page is the English version of our German comparison and starts from the same apps; one of them lists only German in the US App Store and was replaced by the highest-ranked app in the US App Store search for “keto” that meets these conditions and was not yet included. The calorie counter apps FatSecret, Lifesum, MyFitnessPal and YAZIO are included because their store texts mention keto or low carb. The selection is not complete: other apps meet these conditions as well.

The tables sort the apps alphabetically; Easy Keto is marked as our app. The order is not a ranking.

What is not compared

Not compared are store ratings and reviews, taste and choice of recipes, the accuracy of nutrition data and databases, ease of use, offline use, web versions, whether an account is needed, and how to cancel a subscription. That would have required a test or information that is not available for all apps.

Comparison tables

All information as of 21 October 2026. Every cell with an entry names its source as a code. Prices are the US dollar amounts that the US App Store shows in its “In-App Purchases” list. This list shows at most 10 items and also includes offer and older prices; it does not say which price applies to new users. Google Play’s web page shows no list of in-app purchases with durations; the price columns therefore only use the US App Store list.

When retrieved, these help pages were blocked (HTTP 403): FatSecret and MyFitnessPal on net carbs, MyFitnessPal on Apple Health, and YAZIO on Apple Health and Health Connect. What they say is therefore not considered; the cells show “n/a” unless another source names the feature. For MyFitnessPal, the website names the “Net Carbs Mode” with Premium.

The apps calculate net carbs differently: some subtract only fiber, some also sugar alcohols. How Easy Keto calculates net carbs for the recipes on this website is explained on How we calculate nutrition values.

Frequently asked questions

Which keto app is the best?

That depends on what matters to you. This page gives no overall score and no first place: there was no test, and it comes from the provider of one of the apps. If you want to pay little or nothing, look at K2 and K3. If you want no ads and no tracking label, look at K9 and K10. If you want ready-made recipes, look at K7.

Which keto apps are free on iPhone and Android?

All 12 apps on this page are in the US App Store and on Google Play; that is a condition for being included. The sources name a permanently free version for Carb Manager, Easy Keto, FatSecret, Keto.app, KetoDiet, Keto Tracker, Lifesum, MyFitnessPal, Stupid Simple Keto and YAZIO, mostly with limits. Senza is the only app that lists no purchases at all. For Keto Manager, neither store texts nor the provider name a permanently free version.

Is there a keto app without a subscription?

Of the 12 apps on this page, 10 name a free version, which needs no subscription, and Senza lists no purchases at all (see the previous question). A one-time purchase instead of a subscription is in the US App Store list of 4 apps: Easy Keto (“Premium Diamond”, $89.99), Keto.app (“forever”, $39.99), Keto Tracker (“Lifetime”, $79.99) and Stupid Simple Keto (“Premium for Life”, $49.99, or “Lifetime Premium”, $69.99).

How much does a keto app cost per year?

The annual subscription items in the US App Store lists of the 12 apps range from $23.90 to $119.99 (per app in the table); Easy Keto costs $44.99 a year in the US App Store. Many lists contain several annual prices, including offers. The store shows the price that applies to you at checkout.

Is this a test?

No. No app was installed or tried for this page. All information comes from the store pages and the providers’ websites. The page does not show store ratings and reviews, because they are not a criterion with a measurement rule.

Is something out of date?

Email support@easyketo.app, ideally with the source. This also applies to the providers of the other apps. We check the report and correct the table with a new date.

Easy Keto for iPhone and Android
